The Bow Island Servus Community Arena Update:
On ALL Fridays 12 & Under shinny will start from 4:00pm-5:00pm, 13 & Over SHinny will be from 5:00pm-6:00pm and Open Skate is from 6:15-7:15pm gaining an extra 15 minutes on Open Skate!
Open Skate, 12 & Under Shinny & 13 & Over Shinny will be CANCELLED on

Island 100 Initiative

North Forty Mile Recreation Society is enlisting 100 community Members to donate $100.00 each year, resulting in a prompt accumulation of $10,000.00 to be used for refurbishments or creations of new recreation spaces or facilities in Bow Island!

Landfill Closure

Access to the Landfill site can become extremely difficult when there has been a significant rainfall resulting in the site being closed.
Similarly, when there are very high winds, loose garbage cannot be accepted.
If you are uncertain about conditions at the Landfill when you want to haul, call ahead to 403-545-2618.

Road Closure

The road from 6th Ave West from 4th Street to Westview will be under construction and closed for the next few days. Kindly use alternate route.

Discoloration of Water

The alteration in the intake of our water source has resulted in water discoloration. Progress is evident at the Water Plant, and the issue is expected to resolve within the next one to two days. Rest assured, the water remains safe for consumption and daily use.

Urban Hen Applications

Residents can now apply to have up to 4 hens at their residence for personal use. The new Urban Hen Bylaw will allow up to 5 licensed residences in Town. If more then 5 applications are received Town staff will perform a draw. Deadline to apply is 4:00

2024 By Election Results

Congratulations to Bill Ressler on his recent acclamation as Town Councillor! Councillor Ressler will take the Oath of Office at the May 13 regular Council meeting. Councillor Ressler is a retired school teacher/ administrator at Senator Gershaw School

Tax Rate Bylaw

At the regular Council meeting on Monday April 8 the 2024 Tax Rate Bylaw received 1st and 2nd readings. 3rd Reading is scheduled for April 22. The municipal tax rates have decreased from 2023 with Residential decreasing from 10.0717 to 9.6040.

Bow Island Town Council is accepting nominations for a new council member! Please have your nomination papers in before April 17th at 12:00pm noon. Stop into the Town of Bow Island Office to receive your nomination papers today.

Housing Accelerator Fund

The Town of Bow Island is pleased to announce an agreement has been reached with CMHC to fast-track housing construction under the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF). The HAF will provide Bow Island up to $1,568,000 over 4 years towards

Community Services Fees Bylaw

At the Regular Council meeting on January 8, 2024 there was a First Reading of Bylaw 2024:01 "Community Services Fees Bylaw".

Housing Needs Assessment

The Town has recently partnered with the Rural Development Network to create a Housing Needs Assessment for our community.

2022 Financial Statements

The 2022 Financial Statements have been finalized by MNP and are available for viewing.

Community Standards Bylaw

At the April 24 Regular Council meeting there was first reading for Bylaw 2023:06 which is an update to the Unsightly Premises Bylaw. It will be renamed the Community Standards Bylaw and has a number of minor changes.

Tax Rate Bylaw

At the April 11 Regular Council meeting the first reading for Bylaw 2023:04 Tax Rate Bylaw was passed. Second and Final readings are scheduled to occur on April 24.
