Bow Island Swimming Pool Mass Swim Lesson Registration is on Tuesday, May 13th 2025 located at the Bow Island Swimming Pool.
Mass registration is your chance to get early bookings into all 4 sessions provided during the summer.
NOTE: this will be only time where you are able to book more than three weeks in advance. Reminder payment is due upon registration.
At the April 22 Council meeting first reading was made for Bylaw 2025:05 "Tax Rate Bylaw" and Bylaw 2025:06 "Water Maintenance Tax". Second and third readings are scheduled for April 28.
The residential tax rate has decreased from 9.6040 in 2024 to 8.8785 in 2025.
The non residential tax rate has decreased from 12.7298 in 2024 to 11.6199 in 2025.

Bow Island emergency department extending hours BOW ISLAND –
Beginning Thursday, April 10, the Bow Island Health Centre emergency department (ED) will be open from 7 a.m. every Thursday until 7 a.m. every Monday. There is still an ongoing clinical personnel shortage and an inability to secure regular and consistent coverage during the remainder of the week.
ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd. will file an application with the Alberta Utilities Commission, requesting approval to renew its franchise agreement with the Town of Bow Island.
The franchise agreement will continue to grant ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd. the right to deliver natural gas to residents of Bow Island. The franchise agreement is proposed to be effective on August 1st, 2025, and expire on August 1st, 2035. The existing franchise agreement was previously approved by the Commission in Disposition 29709-D01-2024.
March 17, 2025 Statement from Bow Island Medical Clinic:
This is to regrettably confirm that both Dr Joy Okoror and Dr Andrew Okoror have closed their practices both in Bow Island Medical Clinic and Foremost Medical Clinic effective immediately dated March 12, 2025 due to unforeseen circumstances. Letters have been posted at the Bow Island Medical Clinic and Foremost Medical Clinic on behalf of Dr Joy Okoror and Dr Andrew Okoror. Foremost Clinic will be temporarily closed until a new physician is available. Steps are taking place by both AHS and locally to resolve the vacancy this leaves in the County. Thanks for your understanding during this time.
Bow Island Medical Clinic
The Town of Bow Island is accepting applications for an individual to fulfill the role of Office Clerk.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Office Clerk is responsible for providing first-line reception services to the Administration Office and general administrative support.
The successful applicant will enjoy working with the public, have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, and municipal administration or bookkeeping experience.
This is a part time to full time position Monday through Friday. The Town of Bow Island offers competitive wages, a comprehensive benefits package, and participation in the Local Authorities Pension Plan.

Bow Island emergency department temporarily closed
BOW ISLAND – Due to an unexpected clinical personnel shortage and inability to secure coverage, the Bow Island Health Centre emergency department (ED) will be temporarily closed from 7 a.m. March 11 to 7 a.m. March 13, when it’ll re-open to provide 24-hour service.
During the temporary closure, nursing staff will remain on-site to provide care for acute care patients and long-term care residents. Alberta Health Services (AHS) is working to ensure local residents continue to have access to the care they need during this time.
Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. EMS services are prepared to respond to emergency events and support inter-facility transfers to neighbouring sites. Patients seeking care can access emergency services at the Taber Health Centre (57 km) or the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (57 km).
Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency, health-related questions. Individuals requiring non-emergency medical care are also encouraged to call their family physician.
AHS is thankful for the support of surrounding healthcare centres and medical staff, and would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding during this time.
