The Bow Island Health Centre emergency department (ED) will be closed this weekend due to lack of clinical coverage starting at 7 a.m., Friday, May 30. The ED should resume its current hours of 7 a.m. Fridays to 7 a.m. Mondays the following weekend.
Alberta Health Services Public Service Announcement. The Bow Island Health Centre emergency department (ED) will open at 7 a.m. on Friday, May 16, and remain open until 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, thanks to locum coverage over the May long weekend.
Effective immediately, the Bow Island Health Centre emergency department (ED) will be open from 7 a.m. Friday until 7 a.m. every Monday, and closed on all other weekdays, including Thursdays.
At the April 22 Council meeting first reading was made for Bylaw 2025:05 "Tax Rate Bylaw" and Bylaw 2025:06 "Water Maintenance Tax". Second and third readings are scheduled for April 28.
The residential tax rate has decreased from 9.6040 in 2024 to 8.8785 in 2025.
The non residential tax rate has decreased from 12.7298 in 2024 to 11.6199 in 2025.

Bow Island emergency department extending hours BOW ISLAND –
Beginning Thursday, April 10, the Bow Island Health Centre emergency department (ED) will be open from 7 a.m. every Thursday until 7 a.m. every Monday. There is still an ongoing clinical personnel shortage and an inability to secure regular and consistent coverage during the remainder of the week.
ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd. will file an application with the Alberta Utilities Commission, requesting approval to renew its franchise agreement with the Town of Bow Island.
The franchise agreement will continue to grant ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd. the right to deliver natural gas to residents of Bow Island. The franchise agreement is proposed to be effective on August 1st, 2025, and expire on August 1st, 2035. The existing franchise agreement was previously approved by the Commission in Disposition 29709-D01-2024.

This is to regrettably confirm that both Dr Joy Okoror and Dr Andrew Okoror have closed their practices both in Bow Island Medical Clinic and Foremost Medical Clinic effective immediately dated March 12, 2025 due to unforeseen circumstances. Letters have been posted at the Bow Island Medical Clinic and Foremost Medical Clinic on behalf of Dr Joy Okoror and Dr Andrew Okoror. Foremost Clinic will be temporarily closed until a new physician is available. Steps are taking place by both AHS and locally to resolve the vacancy this leaves in the County. Thanks for your understanding during this time.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Office Clerk is responsible for providing first-line reception services to the Administration Office and general administrative support.
The successful applicant will enjoy working with the public, have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, and municipal administration or bookkeeping experience.

Bow Island emergency department temporarily closed
BOW ISLAND – Due to an unexpected clinical personnel shortage and inability to secure coverage, the Bow Island Health Centre emergency department (ED) will be temporarily closed from 7 a.m. March 11 to 7 a.m. March 13, when it’ll re-open to provide 24-hour service.
During the temporary closure, nursing staff will remain on-site to provide care for acute care patients and long-term care residents. Alberta Health Services (AHS) is working to ensure local residents continue to have access to the care they need during this time.
Patients are asked tocall 911 if they have a medical emergency. EMS services are prepared to respond to emergency events and support inter-facility transfers to neighbouring sites. Patients seeking care can access emergency services at the Taber Health Centre (57 km) or the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (57 km).
Residents are reminded tocall Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency, health-related questions. Individuals requiring non-emergency medical care are also encouraged to call their family physician.
AHS is thankful for the support of surrounding healthcare centres and medical staff, and would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding during this time.

6th Avenue, from 4th Street to Westview Crescent, will be closed on Tuesday, December 17th-Wednesday, December 18th to facilitate the installation of shallow utilities crossing 6th Avenue. The contractor will make every effort to reopen the road within a timely manner.

Access to the Landfill site can become extremely difficult when there has been a significant rainfall resulting in the site being closed. Similarly, when there are very high winds, loose garbage cannot be accepted. If you are uncertain about conditions at the Landfill when you want to haul, call ahead to 403-545-2618.
The alteration in the intake of our water source has resulted in water discoloration. Progress is evident at the Water Plant, and the issue is expected to resolve within the next one to two days. Rest assured, the water remains safe for consumption and daily use.
Residents can now apply to have up to 4 hens at their residence for personal use. The new Urban Hen Bylaw will allow up to 5 licensed residences in Town. If more then 5 applications are received Town staff will perform a draw. Deadline to apply is 4:00

At the regular Council meeting on Monday April 8 the 2024 Tax Rate Bylaw received 1st and 2nd readings. 3rd Reading is scheduled for April 22. The municipal tax rates have decreased from 2023 with Residential decreasing from 10.0717 to 9.6040.
